Share Uttar Pradesh is strengthening its position as an emerging destination for Global Capability Centres (GCCs), with the state government setting a target to attract nearly 10% of all new GCCs established in India. The announcement was made by Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary, Information Technology and Electronics, during the GCC Summit 2026 held in Noida. Global Capability Centres have become a key driver of India’s technology-led growth, enabling multinational companies to establish centres for engineering, research and development, finance, analytics, human resources, customer operations, and digital innovation. Recognising this opportunity, Uttar Pradesh is developing an enabling ecosystem built on progressive policies, a skilled workforce, advanced infrastructure, and responsive governance to attract global investments. While Noida and Greater Noida remain the state’s established technology hubs, the government is expanding its vision by promoting cities such as Lucknow, Varanasi, Agra, Prayagraj, and Bundelkhand as future GCC destinations. To support this expansion, Uttar Pradesh will constitute a high-level GCC Advisory Board comprising representatives from government, industry, academia, Invest UP, and development authorities. The board will help streamline policy implementation, strengthen inter-departmental coordination, and accelerate investment approvals. The initiative forms part of Uttar Pradesh’s broader economic strategy to transform the state into a $1 trillion economy by attracting high-value investments, fostering innovation, and creating skilled employment opportunities. By focusing on technology infrastructure, talent development, and investor-friendly reforms, the state aims to become one of India’s leading destinations for Global Capability Centres in the coming years.
