Share Persistent Systems has expanded its presence in Hyderabad with the opening of a third facility at Phoenix Equinox in Gachibowli, aimed at supporting technology programmes for clients across the banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) sector. The new facility will focus on areas including artificial intelligence deployment, payments modernisation and cloud platforms. According to the company, it has been designed to provide dedicated workspaces for delivery teams as well as areas where Persistent and its clients can work together on AI deployment and broader systems modernisation initiatives. Focus on AI and Systems Modernisation The expansion comes as financial institutions continue to invest in modernising their technology infrastructure while moving AI applications into operational environments. Barath Narayanan, Global BFSI and Europe Geo Head at Persistent, said financial institutions are increasingly putting AI into production while modernising the systems that support their businesses. The new facility is intended to provide dedicated delivery environments and facilitate closer collaboration with clients. The company has not disclosed whether the new centre will house new delivery teams or accommodate the expansion of existing programmes. Details regarding the specific client projects to be supported from the facility have also not been announced. Persistent’s Growing Hyderabad Presence Persistent already has a significant employee base in Hyderabad, with more than 3,000 employees working across its existing locations at WaveRock and Sattva Knowledge City. The addition of the Gachibowli facility gives the company a third location in the city and further expands its physical presence in one of India’s established technology and business hubs. Hyderabad has also developed a strong ecosystem around financial services technology, with financial institutions, global capability centres and fintech companies establishing or expanding technology operations in the city. BFSI Technology Demand Drives Expansion The BFSI sector has been a major area of technology investment as financial institutions modernise legacy systems, strengthen digital payment infrastructure and explore applications of artificial intelligence. Persistent’s new facility is aligned with these areas, particularly as financial services companies look to combine cloud platforms and modern technology architectures with AI-driven capabilities. The expansion also comes amid broader investment by financial services companies in Hyderabad. Wealth management firm LPL Financial, for instance, opened a global capability centre in the city earlier this year, with plans covering areas such as technology, product development, data analytics and risk management. No Hiring Targets Announced While the new facility adds to Persistent’s operational footprint in Hyderabad, the company has not announced a specific investment amount, employee capacity or hiring target associated with the expansion. The immediate employment impact of the new centre therefore remains unclear. Further details on staffing and future technology programmes could provide a clearer indication of how the facility will contribute to Persistent’s Hyderabad workforce. For now, the opening strengthens Persistent Systems’ delivery infrastructure in the city and provides a dedicated base for its BFSI-focused work across AI, payments and cloud modernisation.
