Tata Steel has announced an investment of ₹10,000 crore in its Jharkhand projects by 2028, reaffirming its long-term commitment to sustainable manufacturing, capacity expansion, and industrial development in India.

The investment is expected to create approximately 2,000 direct and indirect jobs while supporting the company’s strategy to increase its domestic steelmaking capacity from the current 27.35 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to 40 MTPA. A significant portion of the investment—₹7,000 crore—will be directed towards deploying HIsarna and EASyMelt technologies, which are designed to reduce carbon emissions and support the transition to low-emission steel production.

In addition, Tata Steel will invest ₹2,600 crore to expand its Tinplate Division and ₹1,500 crore in the Combi Mill at Jamshedpur. These projects are expected to strengthen the company’s manufacturing capabilities, improve production efficiency, and enhance its portfolio of value-added steel products.

The investment aligns with Tata Steel’s broader strategy of combining growth with sustainability by adopting advanced steelmaking technologies while meeting the increasing demand for high-quality steel across infrastructure, automotive, and industrial sectors. It also reinforces Jharkhand’s position as a key manufacturing hub within Tata Steel’s operations.

With this investment, Tata Steel continues to accelerate its green steel roadmap while contributing to economic growth, employment generation, and the development of India’s industrial ecosystem.
