OpenAI has appointed Nitin Bawankule as Head of Enterprise Sales for India, marking a key leadership addition as the company expands its presence in one of its fastest-growing markets.

In his new role, Bawankule will work with enterprises across sectors to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence solutions and support large-scale implementation. His mandate includes helping organisations move beyond pilot projects to enterprise-wide deployment, embedding AI into everyday workflows to drive productivity, creativity, and better decision-making.

Bawankule brings extensive experience across technology, media, and cloud sectors. Most recently, he worked at Amazon Web Services, where he led business segments across industries and played a key role in driving cloud and AI adoption in India.

Prior to that, he served as Head of Ad Sales at The Walt Disney Company, managing advertising revenue across television and digital platforms, including Disney+ Hotstar. His earlier career includes leadership roles at Google and Dell, along with experience at Motorola, Satyam, and Whirlpool.

His appointment comes at a time when businesses are increasingly looking to integrate AI into core operations, moving from experimentation to scaled deployment. As companies navigate this transition, leadership focused on enterprise adoption and execution is becoming critical.

With India emerging as a key market for AI-driven transformation, Bawankule’s role is expected to play a significant part in expanding OpenAI’s enterprise footprint and enabling organisations to unlock long-term value through advanced AI technologies.
