Former IATA Chief Willie Walsh Officially Takes Charge as IndiGo CEO

IndiGo has officially welcomed Willie Walsh as its new Chief Executive Officer, ushering in a new era of leadership for India’s largest airline. The appointment marks a significant milestone as the carrier intensifies its international expansion strategy and strengthens its position among the world’s fastest-growing airlines. As CEO, Walsh will lead the airline’s overall management and strategic direction, with a focus on global growth, operational excellence, commercial strategy, and customer experience.

Walsh brings decades of global aviation leadership to IndiGo. A trained pilot by profession, he previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Aer Lingus, British Airways, and International Airlines Group (IAG), before becoming Director General of the International Air Transport Association (IATA). His extensive experience across airline operations, network management, and industry leadership makes him one of the most accomplished executives to lead an Indian airline.

Commenting on his appointment, Walsh described IndiGo as a remarkable airline that has built a world-class reputation in just two decades.
