Tata Projects Appoints Former L&T Leader Sukumar Hebbar as Managing Director & CEO

Tata Projects has appointed Sukumar Hebbar as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, marking a significant leadership transition for one of India’s leading engineering, procurement, and construction companies. Hebbar succeeds Vinayak Pai and takes charge at a time when Tata Projects is executing several large-scale infrastructure and industrial projects while expanding into emerging sectors such as data centres and sustainable energy.

With more than 35 years of experience in infrastructure and construction, Hebbar joins Tata Projects from Larsen & Toubro (L&T), where he served as Senior Vice President and led major business portfolios across complex engineering and infrastructure projects. Throughout his career, he has built extensive expertise in project execution, operational leadership, business development, and delivering high-value infrastructure programmes across multiple sectors.

An architect by training and a graduate of Mysore University, Hebbar has also completed the Advanced Management Programme in Organisational Leadership at INSEAD. His blend of technical expertise and strategic leadership is expected to support Tata Projects as it continues to strengthen execution capabilities, embrace innovation, and deliver world-class infrastructure aligned with India’s long-term development goals.

As Managing Director and CEO, Sukumar Hebbar will lead Tata Projects’ next phase of growth with a focus on operational excellence, timely project delivery, digital transformation, and sustainable infrastructure development. His appointment reinforces the company’s commitment to building future-ready capabilities while supporting India’s expanding infrastructure ecosystem through engineering excellence and innovation.
