Axis Capital has appointed Anand Bardhan as Executive Director and Head of Human Resources, reinforcing its leadership team as the firm continues to strengthen its people strategy and organizational capabilities.

In his new role, Bardhan will oversee the company’s human resources function, leading initiatives across talent acquisition, leadership development, employee engagement, organizational transformation, performance management, and culture. His appointment reflects Axis Capital’s focus on building a future-ready workforce in an increasingly competitive financial services landscape.

Bardhan joins the firm with more than 20 years of experience in human resources across banking, financial services, and consulting. Most recently, he served as Managing Director and Head of Human Resources at HSBC India, where he played a key role in shaping the bank’s people strategy and driving leadership and organizational development initiatives across multiple businesses.

Earlier in his career, he held senior HR leadership positions at Barclays, ABN AMRO Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, and Wipro. Throughout his career, he has led large-scale transformation programs, talent management initiatives, succession planning, and culture-building efforts while partnering closely with business leaders to support organizational growth.

His appointment comes at a time when financial institutions are investing heavily in leadership capability, digital transformation, and workforce development to meet changing customer expectations and evolving business needs. Strengthening HR leadership has become increasingly important as organizations seek to attract, develop, and retain top talent in a rapidly changing environment.

With Anand Bardhan joining as Executive Director and Head of Human Resources, Axis Capital aims to further strengthen its leadership pipeline, foster a high-performance culture, and align its people strategy with the firm’s long-term growth ambitions.
