With 100+ sites delivered across 100,000+ sq. ft., Integrity Interiorz is entering 2026–27 with a clear focus on disciplined growth, technology-led productivity and deeper customer relationships. Chetan Gangani, Founder & Principal Designer, Integrity Interiorz, is shaping the next phase of the practice around a simple belief: purposeful design, functional spaces and long-term value should remain at the centre of every project.

An Industry at an Inflection Point

India’s interior design market is evolving from a fragmented ecosystem of individual practitioners and one-off projects into a more formal, data-driven industry. Three structural shifts are accelerating this transformation.

1. Dual-income households are redefining functional design

The rise of nuclear, dual-income families across India’s metros is creating demand for smarter spaces. Clients are increasingly looking for modular interventions, integrated storage and end-to-end design and execution solutions that simplify the experience for time-conscious households. The emphasis is shifting from simply creating larger spaces to making existing spaces work better.

2. Sustainability is becoming a design standard

Green building certifications such as GRIHA and IGBC are increasingly driving specifications around low-VOC materials, recycled content and daylight optimisation. These considerations are also moving into premium residential projects. India’s green-certified construction footprint grew from approximately 4.5 billion sq. ft. in 2019 to more than 7.5 billion sq. ft. by 2023, with a majority of these projects incorporating eco-conscious specifications.

3. Technology is entering the design brief

AI-assisted workflows, IoT-enabled fixtures and AR/VR-based visualisation are rapidly becoming part of the expected design experience.

India’s smart-home segment is projected to approach US$13.5 billion by 2026, with growth exceeding 20% CAGR. For design practices, this creates an opportunity to integrate technology across research, ideation, documentation, communication and project execution.

Regulatory maturity is adding another layer to this transformation. State-level RERA enforcement across markets such as Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu is formalising developer processes around interior specifications, documentation and handovers, strengthening accountability across the ecosystem.

Mumbai and Maharashtra: The Epicentre of the Shift

West India, led by Mumbai and Pune, commands approximately 28% of India’s interior design market, closely following the South at 30% and ahead of the North at 27%. The bigger opportunity lies in the region’s premiumisation. Mumbai and Pune are attracting international retailers and high-spec commercial tenants seeking experiential build-outs, raising design expectations across market segments.

For Integrity Interiorz, operating from the heart of this market provides a direct view of these changing expectations.

Redevelopment is Mumbai’s Unique Growth Engine

Mumbai’s constrained land availability has made redevelopment a defining force in the city’s real estate cycle. Of approximately 19,500 cessed buildings, referring to pre-1969 rent-controlled structures, counted in the 1950s, an estimated 13,000 remain pending redevelopment, creating a multi-decade pipeline. More than 31,000 society redevelopment projects have been approved across Mumbai as of the last financial year. The momentum has continued into 2026. During the first quarter of 2026, housing societies signed 70 redevelopment agreements covering 52 acres. Average plot size per project increased from approximately 1,850 sq. m in 2025 to nearly 3,000 sq. m in 2026, highlighting the movement toward larger, integrated cluster redevelopments. Policy is further supporting this growth. Mumbai’s residential FSI increased from 1.33 to 3, unlocking greater buildable potential per plot. The city’s stated target of 5 lakh SRA homes by 2030 represents roughly twice the number delivered since 1996. For interior design, every redevelopment cycle creates multiple opportunities across the customer journey. Residents move into temporary rental housing during redevelopment, with redevelopment-linked displacement accounting for approximately 8% of Mumbai’s rental demand, before returning to newly constructed homes requiring complete interior fit-outs. Higher FSI and larger cluster projects also translate into larger homes and common areas, expanding the design scope attached to individual developments.

New Towers Are Raising the Design Benchmark

Mumbai’s luxury residential pipeline across Worli, Lower Parel, Mahalaxmi and Bandra is introducing internationally benchmarked design expectations. Projects such as Armani Casa at The World Towers and the Ritz-Carlton-branded Oberoi Three Sixty West, alongside developments by Lodha, L&T Realty, Prestige and Hiranandani, are raising the bar for premium urban living. This top-end activity influences the wider market by reshaping customer expectations at the mid-premium level, a segment closely aligned with Integrity Interiorz’s own work. For the practice, these market movements form the environment in which its 2026–27 roadmap has been designed.

The 2026-27 Roadmap

5 Projects | End-to-End Delivery: Integrity Interiorz is choosing focused growth through five projects, with complete ownership from concept to handover. The approach prioritises timeline discipline, measurable customer experience and strong NPS. The larger objective is to build a referral-led growth engine where customer advocacy becomes the strongest source of future business.

1 → 11 | Building the Team: The practice is evolving from a single-person operation into a team of 11, with 10 young architects and interior designers being trained and developed. The focus goes beyond headcount. Capability, culture, decision-making and design judgement will form the foundation of the team’s development.

Design + AI + Productivity: Integrity Interiorz is making a dedicated annual investment in technology, design research and productivity, including exploration of AI-powered workflows through tools such as Anthropic’s Claude and other emerging technologies. The objective is to use technology for documentation, research, ideation, communication and repetitive project workflows, creating greater space for designers to focus on creativity, judgement and customer understanding.

Customer Retention | Design Renewal: With renovation and remodelling growing faster than new construction, existing customers represent a significant opportunity for continued engagement. Integrity Interiorz plans to reconnect with clients served five-plus years ago, offering modular upgrades across kitchens, wardrobes, storage and overall space optimisation.

Selective B2B Consulting: Hospitality and workplace design are emerging as some of the market’s fastest-growing margin segments. Integrity Interiorz plans to take on carefully selected B2B assignments across retail, workplace, hospitality and residential development.

Where the Philosophy Comes From

For Chetan Gangani, the foundation of Integrity Interiorz goes back to his father, whose approach centred on understanding the customer, creating functional spaces, maximising utilisation and designing for longevity. That philosophy continues to shape the practice while adapting to a rapidly changing industry. The defining achievement has been transforming an inherited belief system into an individual design philosophy and building a practice around it. For 2026–27, Integrity Interiorz is building around a clear set of priorities: 5 projects, 10 designers to develop, 1 team of 11, AI-enabled productivity, stronger customer relationships, selective B2B partnerships and growth powered by trust, referrals and positive NPS. With 100+ sites, 100,000+ sq. ft. of experience and an evolving design philosophy, the next chapter is centred on becoming better, more structured, more accountable, more productive and more scalable.
