Meesho has appointed Ravi Goel as Chief of Staff in the CEO’s Office, bringing a technology and transformation professional with extensive consulting experience into a strategic leadership role at the e-commerce platform.

Goel assumed the position in August 2026 and is based in Bengaluru. His appointment adds to Meesho’s leadership capabilities as technology, AI and data-driven decision-making continue to play an increasingly important role in the growth of digital commerce businesses.

Before joining Meesho, Goel spent more than 11 years with McKinsey & Company, where he built expertise across technology strategy, analytics, digital transformation and AI-led initiatives.

Moving from Consulting to an Operating Role

Goel’s move represents a transition from advising organisations on transformation to working within an operating business.

At McKinsey, he most recently served as Expert (Engagement Manager) – Tech and AI, a position he held from July 2023 to July 2026.

Over the course of his career with the global consulting firm, he progressed through multiple positions, including:

  • Expert (Engagement Manager) – Tech and AI
  • Specialist – Digital and Analytics
  • Senior Analyst
  • Analyst
  • Junior Analyst

His work covered areas such as technology transformation, digital strategy, analytics and IT benchmarking.

This progression gave him exposure to a wide range of business and technology challenges, particularly around how organisations can use digital capabilities to improve performance and support long-term growth.

A Strategic Addition to Meesho’s CEO’s Office

The role of Chief of Staff has become increasingly important across fast-growing organisations.

Chiefs of Staff often work closely with CEOs and senior leadership teams to support strategic decision-making, drive cross-functional priorities and improve alignment across different parts of the business.

In a complex and rapidly evolving organisation, the role can also help ensure that important initiatives move efficiently from strategy to execution.

Goel’s background in technology and transformation brings a strong analytical and strategic perspective to this role.

At Meesho, he is expected to work closely with the leadership team on key priorities from the CEO’s Office.

Technology and AI Experience Comes to the Fore

Goel’s experience is particularly relevant at a time when technology and AI are becoming more deeply embedded in business operations.

E-commerce companies are increasingly using technology across areas such as customer experience, logistics, product discovery, analytics, operational efficiency and decision-making.

The ability to translate technology opportunities into practical business outcomes has therefore become an important leadership capability.

Goel spent the later part of his McKinsey career focused on technology and AI, following earlier roles in digital and analytics.

His experience in these areas could support Meesho as the company continues to navigate an increasingly competitive and technology-driven e-commerce landscape.

Early Career Experience Across Infrastructure and Consulting

Before joining McKinsey, Goel gained exposure to multiple sectors through internships and early-career assignments.

His professional journey included experience with:

  • PwC India
  • Trident Techlabs
  • Delhi Transco
  • Ministry of Defence
  • Indraprastha Power Generation Company Ltd

During these assignments, he worked on areas connected to power distribution, transmission, generation, infrastructure and sector research.

The experience provided an early foundation across consulting and infrastructure before he moved into technology and business transformation.

Growing Demand for Strategic Chief of Staff Roles

The appointment also reflects a wider trend among companies building stronger strategic teams around senior leadership.

As organisations grow, CEOs are required to manage increasingly complex priorities across business performance, technology, operations and long-term strategy.

Chiefs of Staff can play an important role in helping leadership teams maintain alignment and execution across these priorities.

Leaders with consulting backgrounds are increasingly moving into such positions, bringing experience in structured problem-solving, strategic planning and cross-functional transformation.

A New Leadership Chapter at Meesho

Ravi Goel’s appointment marks the beginning of a new chapter after more than a decade at McKinsey.

His transition from consulting to Meesho places him closer to the day-to-day execution of business strategy, allowing him to apply his experience in technology, analytics and transformation within one of India’s leading e-commerce companies.

As Meesho continues to operate in a highly competitive digital commerce environment, leadership roles that combine strategic thinking with execution are likely to become increasingly important.

Goel’s appointment as Chief of Staff strengthens the CEO’s Office with experience spanning technology, AI, digital transformation and business strategy, adding another perspective to Meesho’s leadership team as it focuses on its next phase of growth.
