Share Anthropic is reportedly in talks to acquire Decart AI, an Nvidia-backed artificial intelligence startup, for approximately $6 billion. If completed, the transaction would become Anthropic’s largest acquisition to date and strengthen the company’s capabilities in AI infrastructure and computing efficiency. Decart, an Israeli-founded AI company, specialises in technology designed to improve the performance and efficiency of computing infrastructure used to develop and run artificial intelligence models. The company also develops AI models known as “world models”, which are designed to simulate aspects of the physical world. One of Decart’s key areas of focus is chip optimisation. Its software is designed to help AI developers make more efficient use of computing hardware, an increasingly important capability as the cost of training and running advanced AI models continues to rise. Decart has also developed AI technologies capable of generating and modifying video in real time. Its models have potential applications across areas such as robotics training and autonomous driving, where simulated environments can be used to develop and test AI systems. If the acquisition is completed, Decart’s team is expected to join Anthropic’s inference and performance organisation. This could help Anthropic improve the speed and efficiency of its AI models while reducing the computing resources required to operate them. The potential deal comes as Anthropic faces growing demand for its Claude AI products and prepares for a possible initial public offering. The company has been investing heavily in computing infrastructure as it competes with OpenAI and other major AI players. The reported acquisition would also underline the growing importance of AI infrastructure and optimisation technology. As companies spend billions on advanced computing capacity, improving how efficiently those chips are used has become a strategic priority. However, the negotiations are still at an early stage and the deal has not been finalised. Anthropic and Decart have not confirmed that an acquisition will take place, meaning the talks could still end without an agreement.
