Share Wockhardt Ltd. has appointed Bala Aiyaswamy as Chief People Officer, strengthening its senior leadership team as the pharmaceutical and biotechnology company continues its transformation and global growth journey. In his new role, Aiyaswamy will lead enterprise-wide people strategy, workforce transformation, leadership development and organisational effectiveness initiatives across Wockhardt’s operations. The appointment comes at a time when life sciences and pharmaceutical companies are increasingly investing in talent agility, digital HR systems, leadership succession planning and workforce capability building to support innovation-driven growth and global expansion. Aiyaswamy brings more than 20 years of experience across pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, technology and diversified business sectors, with expertise spanning HR transformation, operating model design, organisational development and enterprise-scale workforce modernisation. Before joining Wockhardt Ltd., he served as President and Group Chief People Officer at PI Industries Ltd, where he partnered closely with the company’s leadership team and board during a period of global expansion and cross-border acquisitions. During his tenure, he led large-scale HR transformation initiatives including deployment of SAP SuccessFactors systems, establishment of global HR shared services, leadership pipeline strengthening and employee engagement programmes across operations spanning 12 countries. Earlier in his career, Aiyaswamy held senior HR leadership responsibilities at Reliance Heavy Industries, where he worked on talent management and organisational transformation initiatives for large-scale businesses employing more than 70,000 people. His career also includes leadership roles at Tata Motors, Merck & Co., Tata Interactive Systems and NIIT, where he gained experience across organisational design, leadership development, capability building and HR modernisation initiatives in global business environments. At Wockhardt Ltd., Aiyaswamy is expected to play a central role in aligning the company’s people agenda with evolving global business priorities, particularly as the organisation strengthens its focus on innovation, operational agility and leadership capability.
