McDonald’s has appointed Skye Anderson as President of McDonald’s USA, marking a significant leadership transition as the company seeks to strengthen performance in its largest market. The appointment follows softer-than-expected U.S. sales growth during the second quarter and forms part of McDonald’s broader strategy to improve operational execution, customer experience, and long-term growth. Anderson succeeds Joe Erlinger, who has led the U.S. business since 2019 and will remain with the company as an advisor through early 2027 to ensure a smooth transition.

A 26-year McDonald’s veteran, Anderson brings extensive leadership experience across finance, operations, and business strategy. Before taking on her new role, she served as Chief Operating Officer of McDonald’s USA, where she was responsible for driving operational excellence across the company’s restaurant network. Earlier in her career, she held several senior leadership positions, including Chief Financial Officer of McDonald’s Australia and President of Global Business Services, building a strong track record in operational transformation and business performance.

As President of McDonald’s USA, Anderson will oversee nearly 14,000 restaurants and spearhead the implementation of the company’s “McDonald’s > NEXT” strategy. According to CEO Chris Kempczinski, the business does not face a strategy challenge but rather an execution challenge. He noted that an overcrowded promotional calendar, inconsistent value messaging, and operational complexity affected restaurant performance and customer satisfaction during the quarter. Anderson will focus on streamlining operations, strengthening value offerings, improving service quality, and driving sustainable sales growth.

The appointment highlights McDonald’s commitment to experienced internal leadership while reinforcing its focus on operational excellence. As consumer expectations evolve and competition in the quick-service restaurant industry intensifies, Anderson’s leadership will play a critical role in enhancing customer experience, improving franchise performance, and delivering the next phase of growth for McDonald’s in the United States.
