Cigna Healthcare has appointed Anisha Vaz as Head of Human Resources for India, reinforcing its senior leadership team as the organisation continues to expand its workforce and operational capabilities in the country.

In her new role, Vaz will oversee the company’s India HR strategy, leading initiatives across talent management, organisational development, employee engagement, workforce transformation and people operations.

The appointment reflects the increasing importance of India within the global operating models of multinational healthcare and insurance companies, particularly as organisations continue investing in digital operations, analytics, engineering support and shared services functions.

Vaz brings more than 20 years of experience across human resources, people operations and strategic business partnering roles. Over the course of her career, she has worked across healthcare, technology and services-led organisations, focusing on HR transformation, culture development, talent strategy and workforce capability building.

Before joining Cigna Healthcare, she worked with Optum, where she managed senior HR leadership responsibilities related to organisational effectiveness, employee engagement, workforce planning and talent strategy.

Her experience aligns with a broader trend in which companies are increasingly seeking HR leaders capable of managing workforce modernisation alongside organisational scale and digital transformation.

At Cigna Healthcare, Vaz is expected to support people and culture initiatives aligned with the company’s long-term growth plans in India, while helping strengthen leadership capability, employee experience and organisational agility.

The appointment comes at a time when healthcare and insurance companies globally are reshaping workforce models in response to rapid technological change, AI-led operations and evolving employee expectations.

As organisations continue scaling India-based teams and global capability centres, HR leaders are playing an increasingly strategic role in balancing talent expansion, operational efficiency and culture integration across distributed workforces.
