Share Adani Group has announced a proposed investment of ₹1.08 lakh crore (US$11.5 billion) to establish an integrated aluminium manufacturing ecosystem in Odisha, marking one of the largest investments in the global aluminium sector. The announcement was made during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Bhubaneswar, where Karan Adani highlighted the project’s potential to transform Odisha into a major value-added manufacturing hub while creating significant employment opportunities. The proposed integrated project will span the entire aluminium value chain, including a 4 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) alumina refinery, a 2 MTPA aluminium smelter, and a 1 MTPA downstream aluminium park. It will also be supported by a 4,000 MW captive power plant along with a 400 MW green energy component, creating one of the world’s largest integrated aluminium ecosystems. Beyond its scale, the project is expected to have a substantial employment impact. According to the company, nearly 35,000 jobs will be created during the construction phase, while around 18,500 direct and indirect jobs will be supported once operations begin, taking the total employment potential to more than 53,000. The investment is expected to benefit local businesses, entrepreneurs, and the broader industrial ecosystem across Odisha. The project aligns with India’s ambition of expanding domestic aluminium production to meet growing demand from infrastructure, renewable energy, transportation, and manufacturing sectors. It also strengthens Odisha’s position as the country’s leading aluminium-producing state and a preferred destination for large-scale industrial investments. Once implemented, the project is expected to become a key driver of industrial development, manufacturing capacity, and job creation, reinforcing Adani Group’s long-term commitment to India’s infrastructure and manufacturing growth.
