Parle Biscuits has appointed George Kovoor as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 September 2026, marking a significant leadership move for one of India’s best-known consumer food companies.

Kovoor joins Parle after a career spanning more than 30 years with PepsiCo, bringing extensive experience in consumer businesses, market leadership and managing operations across diverse geographies. His appointment comes as Parle looks to build on its established market presence while navigating an increasingly competitive and rapidly evolving consumer landscape.

A seasoned consumer-sector leader takes the helm

Kovoor’s professional journey has been closely associated with PepsiCo, where he spent more than three decades working across consumer businesses and markets.

His long tenure at one of the world’s largest food and beverage companies has given him exposure to complex business environments, changing consumer behaviour and large-scale market operations.

For Parle Biscuits, this experience provides a strong fit with the company’s ambitions to continue growing its consumer franchise while responding to shifts in consumption patterns.

The company has highlighted Kovoor’s track record in building consumer businesses, delivering results, developing talent and managing diverse markets as important strengths that he brings to his new position.

Parle enters its next chapter

Kovoor takes charge of a business with an extensive legacy in the Indian consumer market.

Parle traces its origins to 1929, when the business was established in Vile Parle, Mumbai. Over the decades, it has developed a portfolio of widely recognised biscuit and confectionery brands, with Parle-G remaining its flagship product.

The company’s portfolio also includes Monaco, Krackjack, Hide & Seek and Melody, giving it a presence across several segments of the biscuits and confectionery market.

Its scale extends beyond its brand portfolio. Parle has built a distribution network reaching more than 75 lakh retail outlets across India, while its products are also sold across international markets, including countries in Asia and Africa.

Leadership experience aligned with changing consumer markets

The Indian packaged food sector continues to evolve, with companies competing on factors ranging from affordability and distribution reach to product innovation and changing consumer preferences.

At the same time, established FMCG businesses are increasingly required to balance the strength of legacy brands with the need to remain relevant to newer generations of consumers.

Kovoor’s background in the consumer sector gives him experience in navigating these kinds of market dynamics. His exposure to different businesses and markets during his PepsiCo career is expected to be particularly relevant as Parle evaluates opportunities for further expansion.

Building on Parle’s existing strengths

Commenting on the appointment, Ajay Chauhan, Managing Director of Parle Biscuits, said the company looks forward to working with Kovoor to build on Parle’s existing strengths while identifying opportunities for sustainable growth.

Chauhan also pointed to Kovoor’s ability to deliver business results, nurture talent and operate across complex markets as valuable capabilities for the organisation.

The appointment therefore represents more than a change at the top. It adds an experienced consumer-business leader to a company with significant scale, a strong distribution footprint and a portfolio of deeply established Indian brands.

What lies ahead for Parle Biscuits

Kovoor’s arrival comes at an important point for the consumer goods industry, where businesses are balancing established market positions with the need to respond quickly to changing consumer expectations.

For Parle, the focus will be on leveraging its existing brand equity and distribution strength while identifying new avenues for growth and staying competitive in the evolving food and confectionery market.

With Kovoor bringing more than three decades of consumer-sector experience to the role, his leadership will be closely watched as Parle Biscuits moves into its next phase of business development.
