Jindal Steel Ltd. has announced the reappointment of steel industry veteran V R Sharma (Vidya Rattan Sharma) as its Managing Director for a two-year term, effective July 24, 2026. The appointment follows the resignation of Gautam Malhotra and has been approved by the company’s Board of Directors, subject to shareholders’ approval.

V R Sharma brings more than four decades of leadership experience across the steel, power, metals, and cement sectors. He is no stranger to Jindal Steel, having previously served as Managing Director from 2019 to 2022. Earlier, he also held the position of Deputy Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of the erstwhile Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. between 2010 and 2014, where he played a key role in driving business growth, operational excellence, and capacity expansion.

His return comes at a significant time for the company as it strengthens its leadership team and continues to pursue its long-term growth strategy. Sharma’s extensive industry expertise, combined with his familiarity with the organisation, is expected to support Jindal Steel’s focus on operational efficiency, strategic expansion, innovation, and sustainable value creation.

Alongside Sharma’s appointment, Jindal Steel also named Sandeep Modi as its new Chief Financial Officer, further reinforcing its senior leadership team. These appointments reflect the company’s commitment to strong governance and experienced leadership as it navigates the next phase of growth in India’s evolving steel sector.
