ISRO Opens 746 Vacancies Across Scientist, Administrative & Technical Roles

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Department of Space (DoS) have launched one of their largest recruitment drives in recent years, announcing 746 vacancies across scientific, technical, administrative, and apprenticeship roles. The recruitment initiative reflects the organisation’s continued expansion as India’s space programme accelerates its ambitions in satellite technology, launch missions, deep-space exploration, and commercial space activities.

The recruitment drive comprises 336 permanent positions and 410 apprenticeship opportunities across various ISRO centres and Department of Space units. Permanent vacancies include Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’, Assistant, Upper Division Clerk (UDC), Junior Personal Assistant (JPA), Stenographer, Technician, Technical Assistant, Scientific Assistant, and other specialised roles. The apprenticeship programme offers opportunities for graduate and diploma holders to gain hands-on experience at premier ISRO facilities.

According to reports, the hiring initiative comes at a time when the Department of Space is experiencing its highest vacancy levels in nearly 25 years. By expanding its workforce, ISRO aims to strengthen its engineering, research, technology development, and administrative capabilities while supporting future missions and India’s rapidly growing space economy. The recruitment also includes backlog vacancies, ensuring broader workforce strengthening across multiple functions.
