Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) has appointed Aasif Malbari as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Sudhir Sitapati. Malbari, who previously served as GCPL’s Global Chief Financial Officer and President of its Africa business, will take charge as MD & CEO from August 12, 2026, for a five-year term, subject to shareholder approval.

The leadership transition follows Sitapati’s resignation after five years at the helm of GCPL. His resignation came shortly after the company had announced his reappointment for another five-year term, making the leadership change a significant development for the consumer goods major.

Malbari brings more than three decades of experience across the FMCG and automotive sectors. Before becoming GCPL’s Global CFO, he held finance and business leadership roles at Hindustan Unilever. He later served as CFO of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility and as a director at Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, where he was involved in the company’s electric vehicle business.

At GCPL, Malbari has also overseen the company’s Africa business. Under his leadership, the business expanded its FMCG portfolio, including its entry into air care, while EBITDA margins increased from approximately 9% in FY24 to around 15% in FY26.

As MD & CEO, Malbari has outlined a focus on improving the performance of GCPL’s core businesses while accelerating growth in new categories. The company operates across home care, personal care, hair care and air care in more than 85 countries and reported revenue of approximately $1.6 billion in FY2026.

The appointment marks a new phase for GCPL as it seeks stronger execution and continued growth across its businesses. Malbari’s combination of FMCG, automotive, finance and international market experience is expected to play a key role in shaping the company’s next stage of expansion.
