Vedanta Ltd. has appointed Arun Misra as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for a one-year term beginning August 1, 2026, marking an important leadership transition for one of India’s largest diversified natural resources companies. The appointment comes as the company reported a strong first quarter, with consolidated net profit rising 72% year-on-year, supported by higher prices across key base metals and improved operational performance.

Misra will assume the role after successfully leading Hindustan Zinc, Vedanta’s flagship zinc and silver business, where he served as CEO and Whole-Time Director. Since joining Hindustan Zinc in 2019 as Deputy CEO, he has overseen significant operational growth, improved production efficiencies, and strengthened the company’s leadership position in the global zinc industry. Prior to joining the Vedanta Group, he held several senior leadership positions at Tata Steel, bringing decades of expertise in mining, raw materials, and large-scale industrial operations.

The leadership transition comes at a pivotal time for Vedanta as the company advances its long-term strategy following its business restructuring and focuses on expanding its portfolio across critical minerals, aluminium, zinc, copper, iron ore, and energy. Misra is expected to drive operational excellence, capital allocation, sustainability initiatives, and growth across the group’s diversified businesses while strengthening Vedanta’s competitive position in global commodities markets.

As CEO, Arun Misra will lead Vedanta through its next phase of expansion, with a strong emphasis on value creation, production growth, and strategic investments. His appointment reflects the company’s confidence in experienced operational leadership as it continues to build scale across its core businesses and contribute to India’s industrial and manufacturing ambitions.
