U.S. Bank India Appoints Cynthia O’Connor as Chief Human Resources Officer

U.S. Bank India has appointed Cynthia O’Connor as its new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), strengthening its leadership team as the organisation continues to expand its workforce and business presence in India. In her new role, O’Connor will lead the company’s people strategy, talent agenda, leadership development, workforce planning, and HR transformation initiatives, while fostering a culture of innovation, inclusion, and sustainable growth across its India operations.

O’Connor joins U.S. Bank with more than two decades of experience in human resources, organisational transformation, and people leadership. Most recently, she served as Director – HR Business Partner (Technology) at NatWest Group, where she partnered with technology leaders to drive workforce planning, organisational transformation, and strategic people initiatives. Prior to that, she spent over seven years at Standard Chartered Bank as Vice President and Head – HR Technology, leading the HR agenda for approximately 13,000 technology professionals across India, Malaysia, China, and Poland.

Earlier in her career, O’Connor held senior HR leadership roles at Diversi Foods – Montana Bakery and Les Artisan Boulangers in the United Kingdom, overseeing human resources across the business. She also served as Director – Human Resources at Sutherland Global Services, where she managed HR operations for more than 2,300 employees across multiple locations. Her broad experience across banking, technology, consumer businesses, and business process management has equipped her with deep expertise in talent management, leadership capability building, employee engagement, and organisational effectiveness.

As U.S. Bank continues to strengthen its global operations in India, Cynthia O’Connor’s appointment reflects the company’s commitment to building a future-ready workforce and investing in strategic people leadership. She is expected to play a key role in enhancing organisational capability, developing talent, and supporting the company’s long-term growth through a strong, people-centric culture.
