Senior IAS Officer Anurag Jain Takes Charge as CEO of NITI Aayog

The Government of India has appointed senior IAS officer Anurag Jain as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NITI Aayog following the approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). A 1989-batch IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, Jain will serve a two-year term from the date he assumes office or until further orders.

Prior to this appointment, Jain served as the Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh, where he led the state’s administrative machinery and oversaw key governance initiatives. During his distinguished civil service career, he has also served as Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), where he played an important role in industrial policy reforms, ease of doing business initiatives, logistics development, and investment promotion. Earlier, he worked in the Prime Minister’s Office, contributing to several national infrastructure and development programmes.

As CEO of NITI Aayog, Jain will oversee the organisation’s day-to-day operations while supporting the Government of India’s long-term policy agenda. He will work closely with central ministries, state governments, and other stakeholders to promote cooperative federalism, accelerate economic reforms, encourage innovation, and guide strategic policy formulation across sectors.

His appointment comes at a crucial time as India continues to focus on sustainable economic growth, digital transformation, manufacturing expansion, and long-term development planning. With extensive experience in governance, infrastructure, and industrial policy, Anurag Jain is expected to play a key role in shaping policy initiatives that support India’s growth ambitions and strengthen NITI Aayog’s role as the country’s leading policy think tank.
