Share Rapido is accelerating its entry into India’s food delivery market through Ownly, its zero-commission platform that is preparing for expansion into six new cities following a successful rollout in Bengaluru. The company is betting on a restaurant-first business model that eliminates traditional platform commissions, allowing restaurants to retain more revenue while offering customers transparent pricing. After only a few months of citywide operations, Ownly has already secured an estimated 7% share of Bengaluru’s online food delivery market, demonstrating strong early adoption. To support its expansion, Rapido has integrated Ownly directly into its flagship app, enabling users to order food alongside booking bike taxis, autos, and cabs. By leveraging its large mobility customer base and existing rider network, the company aims to lower customer acquisition costs, improve delivery efficiency, and increase rider utilisation during off-peak hours. This integrated ecosystem is expected to play a key role as Ownly enters new markets across India. Ownly’s business model differs from conventional food delivery platforms by charging restaurants no commission on orders. Instead, restaurants pay a subscription fee while customers pay a transparent delivery charge. Rapido believes this approach allows restaurants to maintain menu prices closer to their offline rates, improving profitability while building greater consumer trust through price transparency. The company has also partnered with the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) to promote a more sustainable and restaurant-friendly food delivery ecosystem. With its planned expansion into six cities, Rapido is positioning Ownly as the first major challenger to India’s established food delivery players in years. Backed by its strong logistics network and mobility platform, the company aims to expand the overall online food delivery market while creating a more balanced ecosystem for restaurants, delivery partners, and consumers alike.
