Bata India has announced key changes to its senior leadership, appointing Sudakshina Ghosh as Vice President – Human Resources while accepting the resignation of Uttam Kumar, Senior Vice President for Merchandising and Replenishment. The changes, disclosed under regulatory requirements, will come into effect in May 2026.

Ghosh is expected to join the organisation on or before May 25, 2026, in a full-time leadership role. She brings over 18 years of experience in human resources, with expertise spanning talent strategy, organisational development, and HR operations across both domestic and international markets. Prior to this, she served as Country HR Head at GSK Vietnam and has also held roles within the Asian Paints group. Her academic background includes an MBA in Human Resources along with an engineering degree, combining strategic and operational strengths.

At the same time, Uttam Kumar will step down from his role effective May 1, 2026, to pursue opportunities outside the organisation. His exit marks a transition in the company’s merchandising leadership, with no immediate successor announced so far.

The company communicated these developments to exchanges including BSE Limited, National Stock Exchange of India, and Calcutta Stock Exchange, in compliance with regulatory disclosure norms.

These leadership movements indicate a recalibration of organisational priorities. The appointment of a senior HR leader underscores a renewed focus on strengthening people strategy and organisational capabilities, while the exit in the merchandising function reflects ongoing transitions within key business areas. As consumer-facing companies continue to adapt to changing demand patterns and workforce expectations, such leadership changes highlight efforts to align talent strategy with evolving business needs.
