Global streaming giant Netflix has announced the launch of a new Eyeline Studios production and innovation hub in Hyderabad, marking a major step in the company’s efforts to expand its visual effects and animation capabilities in India.

The facility, spanning approximately 32,000 square feet, will operate using a hybrid cloud infrastructure and will support the creation of visual effects (VFX) and generative virtual effects for Eyeline Studios’ worldwide production network. As part of this expansion, the company plans to hire around 300 employees, tapping into India’s rapidly growing pool of animation and VFX professionals.

The new studio will contribute to a range of production workflows, including virtual production, advanced visual effects, and emerging technologies used in modern film and series production. By establishing a dedicated hub in India, Netflix aims to strengthen its global production ecosystem while leveraging the country’s strong base of creative and technical talent.

Eyeline Studios, Netflix’s in-house innovation and VFX division, focuses on developing cutting-edge technologies for film and television production. The Hyderabad centre will collaborate with other Eyeline Studios teams worldwide to support global projects across Netflix’s expanding slate of films and series.

Commenting on the expansion, Jeff Shapiro, CEO of Eyeline Studios, noted that India already plays a significant role in the global visual effects industry. He highlighted the depth of the country’s creative and technical talent, which has helped make it an important hub for large-scale VFX and animation work across international productions.

The launch of the Hyderabad studio reflects Netflix’s broader strategy to scale its global production infrastructure, enabling faster and more advanced content creation while integrating emerging technologies such as AI-driven tools and generative visual effects into the production pipeline.

India has increasingly become a key destination for animation, visual effects, and digital production services, supported by a large talent pool and growing investment from global media and entertainment companies. By establishing a dedicated innovation and production centre in Hyderabad, Netflix aims to play a larger role in shaping the country’s evolving animation and VFX ecosystem while supporting its global content production needs.
