Axis Bank has appointed Rajeev Mantri as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), reinforcing its leadership team with an experienced banking executive as the lender continues to strengthen its financial and strategic capabilities.

Mantri will assume charge on September 28, 2026, subject to regulatory and statutory approvals. He succeeds Puneet Sharma, who resigned from the role last month after deciding to pursue the next phase of his professional career.

A seasoned finance leader with nearly three decades of experience, Rajeev Mantri joins Axis Bank from Bandhan Bank, where he served as Chief Financial Officer. During his tenure, he was responsible for overseeing the bank’s finance function, capital management, financial planning, regulatory reporting, investor relations, and strategic financial initiatives.

Prior to Bandhan Bank, Mantri held senior leadership roles at ICICI Bank, Barclays, and Ernst & Young (EY), gaining extensive experience across banking, treasury, corporate finance, financial controls, and risk management. His broad industry expertise positions him well to support Axis Bank’s long-term growth strategy and evolving business priorities.

As CFO, Mantri will lead Axis Bank’s finance function, focusing on capital allocation, financial governance, business performance, and strategic planning. His appointment comes at a time when India’s banking sector is witnessing significant leadership transitions as lenders strengthen succession planning and invest in experienced leadership talent.

The appointment reflects Axis Bank’s continued focus on building a strong executive team capable of supporting sustainable growth, driving operational excellence, and creating long-term value for customers, shareholders, and other stakeholders.
