The Indian Express Appoints Saurabh Dwivedi to Lead Its New Hindi Edition

Saurabh Dwivedi, one of the most prominent names in Hindi digital journalism, is set to join The Indian Express, where he will head the publication’s new Hindi edition. The move signals a major push by the media group to expand its reach among Hindi-speaking audiences and build a strong digital-first presence beyond its traditional English readership. In his new role, Dwivedi will oversee editorial strategy, video programming, and the e-paper for the Hindi platform. His mandate includes shaping content direction and audience engagement as The Indian Express strengthens its footprint in vernacular journalism. 

A Defining Career in Hindi Digital News 

Dwivedi recently stepped down from the India Today Group after nearly twelve years. He most recently served as Founding Editor of The Lallantop and Editor of India Today Hindi, roles in which he helped build one of the most influential Hindi digital newsrooms in the country. Under his leadership, The Lallantop developed a deep connect with younger audiences and played a central role in redefining Hindi storytelling on the internet. Dwivedi began his journey at the India Today Group as a Features Editor at AajTak.in and later co-founded The Lallantop with journalist Kamlesh Singh. His exit was acknowledged by Kalli Purie, Vice Chairperson of the India Today Group, who credited him for shaping The Lallantop into a leading Hindi platform and wished him success as he prepares for his next chapter. 

A Strategic Bet for The Indian Express 

Dwivedi’s move marks an important step for The Indian Express as it expands into India’s fast-growing vernacular news market. With digital consumption rising rapidly in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, the publication will look to leverage Dwivedi’s expertise in building modern, video-led, and youth-centric Hindi content ecosystems.
