Share Senior journalist Palki Sharma has stepped down from her role as Managing Editor of Firstpost, bringing to a close a significant phase in the evolution of the digital news platform. During her leadership, Sharma was widely credited with refining Firstpost’s editorial voice, expanding its international coverage, and positioning it as a go-to destination for global news seen through an Indian perspective. One of her most notable contributions was the launch and anchoring of Vantage, Firstpost’s flagship global affairs programme. The show quickly grew into one of India’s most widely followed digital news properties, known for its sharp analysis and global focus. Beyond on-air presence, Sharma played a key role in strengthening editorial processes, building high-performing newsroom teams, and reinforcing a culture centred on credibility, clarity, and journalistic rigour. As the organisation transitions into its next phase, veteran journalist Binoy Prabhakar has been appointed Chief Content Officer and will lead Firstpost’s editorial strategy going forward. With nearly 25 years of experience in journalism, Sharma has worked across some of India’s leading media organisations, including WION, Network18 Media and Investments, Doordarshan News, iTV Network, and The Hindustan Times. Her departure has sparked widespread discussion across the media industry. Sharma is now expected to embark on an independent media venture, signalling a new chapter focused on original content creation and independent journalism.
