NDTV’s Uma Sudhir Retires After 27 Years in Journalism

Veteran journalist Uma Sudhir has retired from NDTV, concluding a distinguished 27-year association with the network.

As Executive Editor, Sudhir shaped NDTV’s editorial coverage across South India and became widely known for her strong on-ground presence. Reporting extensively from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, she chronicled major political shifts, governance developments and social change, bringing regional stories into sharper national focus.

Throughout her career, Sudhir championed field-based journalism, emphasising first-hand reporting and deep community engagement over studio-led discussions. Her work consistently highlighted elections, governance challenges, gender equity, rural distress, environmental concerns and social justice issues – connecting local realities with broader policy debates.

Her contributions have been recognised with prestigious honours, including the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award and the Chameli Devi Jain Award.
