NatWest Group India has appointed Ritu Tushir as Head of HR for its India operations, strengthening the bank’s leadership as it continues to expand its talent and innovation capabilities in the country.

In this role, Tushir will lead the people strategy across NatWest’s India operations, which represent the Group’s largest employee base outside the United Kingdom. She will focus on aligning local workforce priorities with NatWest’s global HR strategy, ensuring the organisation continues to build strong talent pipelines and future-ready capabilities.

A key part of her mandate will involve developing a future-ready workforce by strengthening capabilities in areas such as data, artificial intelligence, cloud computing and engineering. She will also lead reskilling initiatives aimed at preparing employees for evolving technology-driven roles across the organisation.

Beyond capability building, Tushir will work to advance cultural priorities within the organisation, including strengthening employee recognition programmes, wellbeing initiatives, experimentation-led innovation, and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts. As part of her leadership responsibilities, she will also serve as a member of the India Leadership Committee, contributing to the strategic direction of NatWest’s operations in the country.

Tushir brings over 25 years of global HR leadership experience across financial services and multinational organisations. Throughout her career, she has worked with leading companies including American Express, Genpact and Whirlpool, gaining extensive experience in talent strategy, organisational development and workforce transformation.

Most recently, she served as Head of HR for Asia Pacific Servicing Centres at Northern Trust Corporation, where she led talent strategy and organisational transformation initiatives across the Asia Pacific region. Her work focused on scaling talent capabilities while supporting business expansion in global service environments.

Commenting on her appointment, Ritu Tushir said NatWest India already has a strong base of specialised talent and she looks forward to strengthening future skills, deepening the talent strategy and building a culture where inclusion and accountability go hand in hand, particularly as organisations navigate the growing convergence of human intelligence and artificial intelligence.

Ruchika Panesar, Country Head, India and Chief Digital & Information Officer, Group Functions at NatWest Group, said Tushir’s strategic HR leadership and experience in building talent at scale in global environments will help further strengthen NatWest India’s position as a key innovation and talent hub for the Group.

The leadership appointment reflects NatWest’s continued focus on developing technology-driven talent ecosystems in India, as global financial institutions increasingly rely on the country as a centre for digital innovation, engineering expertise and enterprise capabilities.
