Microsoft has appointed Asha Sharma as Executive Vice President and CEO of Microsoft Gaming, reporting directly to Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella. The appointment marks a significant leadership transition as Microsoft sharpens its focus on gaming innovation, cloud gaming expansion, and content growth across global markets.

Sharma steps into the role at a transformative time for the gaming industry, which is rapidly evolving through digital platforms, subscription models, and cross-device experiences. Her mandate will include strengthening Microsoft’s gaming strategy, accelerating platform innovation, and supporting the company’s vast portfolio of studios and gaming franchises.

Before taking on this position, Sharma served as Chief Operating Officer at Instacart, where she played a key role in scaling operations and driving consumer growth. She also held a leadership role as Vice President at Meta, gaining deep expertise in consumer technology, product strategy, and global platform management.

In her statement, Sharma expressed both humility and urgency, acknowledging the strong foundation built by the Microsoft Gaming team over the years. She highlighted that gaming is in a period of rapid change and emphasised the need to move forward with clarity, innovation, and a strong focus on players and creators.

Her appointment signals Microsoft’s continued investment in strengthening its gaming ecosystem, reinforcing its position as a global leader in console gaming, cloud gaming services, and digital entertainment.
