Indraprastha Gas Limited has appointed Subhankar Sen as its Chairman, effective April 1, 2026, following the exit of Raj Kumar Dubey after his retirement from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.

The appointment was approved by the company’s board through a resolution passed on March 31, in line with IGL’s governance structure. The leadership transition is part of a rotational nomination system between promoter companies GAIL and BPCL, under which the chairman role is periodically reassigned.

Dubey, who had taken over as chairman in May 2025, stepped down upon his superannuation from BPCL, prompting the nomination of Sen for the role.

Sen currently serves as Director (Marketing) at BPCL and brings over three decades of experience across the energy sector. His leadership spans key business areas including retail fuel operations, LPG distribution, lubricants, aviation fuel, and gas marketing, offering him a comprehensive understanding of both consumer-facing and industrial energy markets.

He has also been involved in driving brand development and digital retail initiatives, including fuel quality assurance programmes, premium fuel offerings, and customer loyalty platforms. In addition, Sen has contributed to energy transition efforts, including electric vehicle charging infrastructure and policy coordination within the sector.

With extensive experience in managing large-scale distribution networks and overseeing operations across thousands of fuel stations, Sen is expected to bring strategic depth to IGL as it navigates evolving energy demand and regulatory dynamics.

As the company looks to expand its footprint and align with changing energy consumption patterns, the new leadership is expected to play a key role in balancing growth ambitions with sustainability and compliance priorities.
