Share Amazon has announced the elimination of 16,000 roles globally as part of its ongoing workforce restructuring, following earlier plans disclosed in October to reduce around 14,000 positions. The latest cuts take the total planned reduction to nearly 30,000 jobs, largely impacting corporate and office roles, while warehouse and distribution employees remain unaffected. According to Beth Galetti, Senior Vice President at Amazon, the move is aimed at reducing organisational layers, increasing ownership, and removing bureaucracy, as the company sharpens its focus on speed, efficiency, and innovation for customers. The restructuring comes amid increased investments in artificial intelligence, highlighting how AI-led priorities are reshaping workforce strategies across the tech sector. Amazon is expected to share more insights when it announces its full-year 2025 results on February 6, during a live conference call.
